Frequently Asked Questions
ExploreIT is a four-day long series of four-hour workshops that Hack Nights will be partnering with UC Irvine to offer in Summer 2017. The program will take place at PeopleSpace Irvine. Workshops will involve both hardware and software programming. Participants with no knowledge of computer science will learn basic concepts and apply them to a hands-on project. Mentors from companies like Google and Glidewell will also be present to share their industry experiences.
ExploreIT is for girls who are entering 6th, 7th, or 8th grade in the 2017-2018 school year. Exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis. Please email us at contact@hacknights.co if interested. Note that the age limit is necessary due to the use of hardware in workshops.
Fundamental coding concepts will be covered first to provide a strong foundation to attendees. The workshops will be fast-paced and very hands-on. Throughout the four days, attendees will have the chance to learn how to code in multiple languages and also learn about different programming paradigms.
$25 for four days of workshops, meaning ExploreIT is only $6.25 per day, much cheaper than any babysitter you can find out there. Scholarships are available for those who need them (please email us if that is the case). In addition, the program will include hardware that participants can keep after the program, a meal each day, snacks, and other goodies.
Please register to attend here. Only a few spots are left, so sign up soon!
Feel free to send us an email if you have any more questions regarding the ExploreIT program.

In winter 2016, we hosted a free Hack Nights Local Hack Day in Irvine. Participants had the chance to learn about UX design from Ithakai instructor JC Jubilo and get their hands on some Pebble Watches.
